Applicants made under the European patent must be validated in Turkey in order to be valid in Turkey. In order for the validation process to be carried out, it is necessary to make the Turkish translation of the tariff team and pay the fees and submit it to Turkish Patent and Trademark Institue. It should be kept in mind that translations should be done by expert translators, taking into account that the description is essential in protecting the patent application. The validation process must be made within 3 months of the publication of the European patent registration decision in the European Patent Bulletin. It is not possible to enter Turkey in case of exceeding this period. During this period, it is possible to request an additional period of 3 months by paying the relevant fee for the translation.
It should be noted that the registry fees must be paid for the patent applications connected to the registry by the validation process and care should be taken to prevent the loss of the rights by making a payment within the period.
